With the general adoption of ERP systems over the last two decades, our customers have a solid base on which to further develop, whether it is eliminating paper and performing most processes online via handheld scanners, or implementing a job costing system to better understand costs and margins, sales budgets or customer contact management we can help to improve the efficiency of your business, and how it serves your customer base.
Handheld Scanners
Our Handheld Scanners move the office outside, into the yard where the work gets done. They help to slash paperwork, by updating the system with real-time transactions.
You will know where you stand and have current and accurate information, not like the old days when the paperwork was processed in the office the next day, and may have contained manual data keying errors.
We have seen the efficiencies that handheld scanners provide for our customers, and we’ve developed a large library of commonly used TimberSmartOne functions that you can perform on the handhelds, and in terms of hardware, we have standardised on the Honeywell range which have a mobile phone form factor.
Training staff is faster and easier when they know which option to choose, point and scan a packet label and the system is updated. If you can use a mobile phone, you can easily pick up how to run a scanner.
We also offer a flexible ‘dynamic scan’ feature, where new transactions can be developed quickly to meet a specific requirement you might have in the yard.
Implementation Services
Our Implementation Services provides a range of implementation options that are flexible, and reflect our customer requirements, we offer a mix of remote and on-site services, project management and change management/training based on your specific scenario.
Whether you’re an existing customer looking to expand operations, or a new customer we can find a solution that works for you.
Here at TimberSmart Australia, our customer base is extremely diverse, so we’ve pretty much covered most scenarios you can think of over our journey.
We can provide a full-service project methodology, or a light/streamlined version as required. A scoping exercise often provides the key information we need to identify any customer specific gaps/opportunities within the system, followed up by a project plan, including effort, and costs so you know where you stand.
Mobile Apps
Our Mobile Apps extends the TimberSmartOne system for those folks on the move, and require current information and reports, for example, Sales and Management.
When combined with the Data Warehouse, key information is easily accessed and reviewed.
As part of our journey to the web version of TimberSmart, we have developed some web applications that our customers have identified as high value for their teams like Product enquiry, Pack enquiry and Debtor enquiry. They can be accessed on PC, tablet or phone and will resize automatically to suit the screen. These are currently optional add-on’s while we progress the web version to TimberSmartOne.
Bespoke Development
Our Bespoke Development services can enhance existing functions, or develop new ones depending on your requirements.
We find customers ask to us to extend a process to accommodate a scenario specific to them, so we’re used to developing new functionality within our core system, or using our handheld scanners to develop a function they see will reduce manual administration or eliminate paperwork.

Data Warehouse
Our Data Warehouse solution can be used to run reports on much larger data sets spanning multiple years without impacting system performance. As our customers have mastered their day-to-day business processes, they have begun to look further into reporting, both for historical queries and future planning, the volumes of data tend to be larger so a separate Data Warehouse can drive reporting without impacting system users.
Our back-end solution provides a series of FACT tables that consolidate different data objects, and you can use to power your own reporting platform, or it can feed Power BI which can be added into the TimberSmartOne solution to present advanced reports across locations, branches, regions or nationally, products and customer attributes aligning with your business structure.
TimberSmartWeb
Our TimberSmartWeb solution is a journey that will replace the existing trusted and reliable Access front-end with a web version that simplifies the User Interface, and provide different options for interacting with the system on PC, tablet and phone.
We have started our journey, and within 2 years expect to have a web version that retains all the key functionality we’ve developed over the years, we won’t compromise with features, it will be the TimberSmartOne system, only web based.
We will migrate groups of processes (modules) starting with production processing which accounts for a large number of users and total transactions in the TimberSmartOne system, and then progress to more complex modules like sales, load planning and invoicing.
Hardware
Our Hardware offering includes label printers, label media and handheld scanners so you can focus on your business instead of talking to multiple vendors.
We can source and provide label printers and media for you, our preferred brand is Zebra because they are proven and reliable in sawmills, we trust them to perform.
For handheld scanners, our preferred brand is Honeywell, again because they are proven and reliable in timber processing environments, we can source these, set them up and support remotely through our MOBI software so you can keep focusing on what you do best.
Systems Integrations
Our Systems Integration offering includes connecting with a wide range of 3rd party systems including: Kilns (Dryspec), Treatment (Koppers), Weighbridge (Weighsure), Greenmill (Hew Saw, Debarker), DryMill (Wintally), Docking (Opticutter), Veneer (Kleis) Log Receipts (VIC & NSW, Forestry Corp).
We are comfortable liaising with 3rd party vendors running applications that you need to include in your system processes, or for reporting. Let us know how we can help.
